Cuetec history
Cuetec cues came on the market in 1989 as a new concept in billiard cues. The starting point is a cue, using a proprietary process, with a Grade A Plus North American maple shaft covered with a thin layer of fiberglass or graphite that remained straight despite all adverse conditions, was extremely damage resistant to the rigors of all types of play, was easy to maintain and most importantly offered true professional quality and playability at prices almost anyone could afford.
In 1987, an engineer from Taiwan named Jones Chang, who had worked in the tennis industry and was involved in the production of wooden rackets coated with graphite, showed a number of cue samples at the billiards expo that year using the same technology. The technology along with the excellent cue design led to the birth of Cuetec Cues. Cuetec Cues began in 1989 as a line of eight cues, four fiberglass and four graphite, originally distributed by the JS Sales Co in Mt. Vernon, NY
In 1992, Cuetec had a Pro Staff of five of the world's best players. Through strong marketing, first-class sales and the help of excellent pro-approval, the line tripled. By 1995, the Pro Staff consisted of seven of the world's top players, sales had exploded and in a very short time was well on its way to becoming one of the best-selling brands in the United States and beyond.
In 2000, the line was now 58 cues strong with a variety of cues covering all playing needs. The torch was passed to Imperial International in 2006 when they bought JS Sales.
Imperial and Cuetec have worked extremely hard to maintain and maintain the professional quality players expect and have become accustomed to. Cuetec had then diversified into a line of high-quality one-piece home cues and accessories.
In 2009, Cuetec signed Shane Van Boening, a multiple player of the year, world and American champion. In 2010, Imperial and Cuetec, in collaboration with Shane Van Boening, introduced and perfected a hi-tech and state-of-the-art all-wood series called R360 that has become the standard for professional cues.
Since then, Cuetec remains the highest and most professional quality cue available on the market today. Cuetec has hundreds of tournament wins to prove it.
