PREFACE
The 5-Ball game is played in sets.
Before the game starts, you agree with your opponent how many sets will be played. For example: Best of 3, 5 or 7 etc.
The number of points per sets is also agreed in advance. For example: 51, 101, 151 points.
In the 5-ball game you count from the agreed number of points, back to 0 and you always start with an odd number of points.
The players take turns hitting. The first player to reach 0 wins the set.
TO SCORE
The numbers on the balls represent the value of the ball.
In order to score points, at least 2 balls must be hit. The value of the balls hit is added together
and this is the score per turn. The value of the own cue ball does NOT count.
START OF THE GAME (see drawing)
There are dots on the billiard table for the location of the balls.
The red ball is on the top dot, the blue on the middle dot, the green on the bottom center dot, the white ball on the bottom right dot, the yellow ball on the bottom left dot.
The players decide by tossing who gets to start the game.
The player who starts plays with the white ball (bottom right). The opponent plays with the yellow ball. Keep the players during the
entire party the own color cue ball.
The starting player must first hit the red ball on the starting shot before hitting another ball. At the next
On your turn, you can choose which ball you want to hit first.
If player 1 misses the red ball on the starting shot, the balls remain in this position and the opponent is at the
turn. There is a valid score if at least 2 other balls are hit.
Add up the value of the balls hit and this is the score per turn. The value of the own cue ball does NOT count.
EXAMPLE: The player is playing with the WHITE cue ball. The balls hit during the turn are RED(2) and YELLOW(4).
SCORE= 6 points. This is a VALID score and may be deducted from the number of points remaining to be earned.
A turn in which more points are scored than the player should have scored is INVALID. The player still retains the number
points to be made and it is the opponent's turn.
EXAMPLE: A player still needs to score 5 points to finish at 0. He hits the BLUE(6) and RED(2) on his turn.
ball. SCORE= 8 points. The score is INVALID. They have scored more points than necessary.
The player who, after punching during his turn, ends up with a number of points where he/she cannot reach 0 in a next turn
finish, has no score. The turn is invalid. The player keeps the number of points still to be scored and it is the opponent's turn.
A game is over when one of the two players has reached 0.
EXAMPLE: A player needs to score 9 points to finish at 0. On his turn, he hits the YELLOW(4) and GREEN(1)
ball. SCORE= 5 points. This brings the player to 4 remaining points. On the next turn, you cannot press 0 .
end, because with at least 2 balls to hit no 4 points can be scored. The score is INVALID. The
player keeps the number of points still to be made (9) and it is the opponent's turn.
Should a ball be kicked out of the billiard table (the turn is then immediately invalid), the ball is replaced on its own spot. Is that
place blocked by another ball, the ejected ball is placed on the first free dot. (order: white or yellow, green,
blue or red)
